George Carlin is one of those comedians that I think is essential listening. Although he's been dead for quite some time now so much of his bits, his commentary on America, are still as relevant today. The phenomena that he found ridiculous did not stop but has continued at pace, or even accelerated.
On a greater scale, there seems to be a lot of 'forbidden topics' that you can't really discuss without getting dirty looks or being judged as some kind of *ist or *phobic. But the one avenue where you can, IF YOURE FUNNY, is comedy. You can spit truth on any number of taboo topics and 'get away with it' under comedy. Dave Chappelle is a bit of a controversial figure, and putting him in the same post as Carlin may be odd, but his 2022 SNL bit I think highlights my point

He tackles a lot of 'forbidden topics', spits truth, and makes you laugh. Some guy with a podcast, or a youtuber, or an OP-ED journalist would not be able to touch on these things without consequences or outright cancellation.
I think the messages of todays philosophers can realy only be 'heard' through the avenue of comedy.
